My OCD relationship with technology has reached a new level - the fingerprint magnet nature and how easily stainless steel can scratch has led me to keeping a cotton glove in the ddHifi case for taking the R8 II out and storing away, making sure to use one of the many cloths I keep to hand to always give DAPs and IEMs a quick polish before storage… and often randomly when in use - I like to treat my precious toys with the utmost care 😂 Oh and especially given that the case for the Hiby is awful.

When in use it is always either on a cloth or another material surface such as table cloth.

Anyone else have OCD behaviour associated with the hobby that they’d like to share?!

I always set my volume at multiples of 5, 4 or 11.

Oh shoot, just when I thought I could get away with the (although I take care of my gear and I do prefer colormatching with iems+cables) OCD topic. Now you come up with numerology instead

I always try to end on a 3, 7 or 8 myself when I add up the numbers...
maths....gif

For example: on my LPGT (1TB) I have 58.125 songs now => (21=2+1=) 3 in the end.

Oh now you're opening a can of worms. I'm forever balancing out numerical sequences. If two pieces of gear have the same sequence number, they automatically have to go together. Xe6, Rn6, two peas in a pod. R8 II, RS8...really need the RS8 II to balance the scales. I can go on and on but my sanity will be questioned even more than it probably already is 😅

You won't be so give it up already! Tier 1 for me. If it wasn't for the weight, price, and brightness I'd trade my mum for it 🥰

Its a “blind” buy, so I hope the weight wont wear my ears down to much 😅

From what ive been reading the brightness can be tamed.

Ill share my findings and combinations here.

Really want to test them on the Resolute

FIFTY EIGHT THOUSAND songs?! :astonished:

I have 5000!

Is one of us an outlier here? :)

I have over 20,000 albums in my collection (on the drive). :)

Yep, 58K and only 400mb free space left at this moment
But the LPGT still runs smooth...

Most of my favorite albums in hq:
± 800 DSD [64] / WAV [32] files
± 3.000 FLAC [24b] files
± 7.500 FLAC [16b] files
and the rest is 'simply' mp3@320.

Now, maybe the mp3 files disqualify me completely for being a serious audiophile. But as long as the music is well produced, I can still totally enjoy them too :)

Hmm...it sounded a lot at first look, then I put some numbers around my head, and...it doesn't seem too many anymore :)

Cheers!
My AK daps even have an extra 256gb onboard => approx 70K songs on those. I like the variety while listening to 'all songs' in shuffle mode, but of course I also listen to complete albums from time to time :)

R.I.P. Chris Cornell 7 years ago on this day

One of the greatest rock voices ever indeed! I do like Soundgarden as well, but when I was in a bar many years ago, and heard this song for the very first time...

...played out of a jukebox that they had over there. It was like I was struck by lightning => goosebumps all over my body at that moment :)

Good grief... Turns out I'm the only normal guy around here! Who would have thought... 😅😁

drftr
Yeah, right!!!

Just keep telling that to yourself, like some kind of mantra :joy:
